I've been saying for years that the main failing of a lot of 'classical' (eg Shakespeare) theatre companies is that they don't actually trust their audiences. They cut out anything they think is too 'difficult' and thereby do their audiences a disservice.

I HATE when theatre companies cut Shakespeare. I learned the plays from the scripts, and I want to hear all the lines, and learn all the nuances of the language.
